London Free Press: Special Reports: Shunpiker

Welcome to the 39th annual London Free Press Shunpiker Mystery Tour
Robin Harvey
Sun Media

May 12, 2008

This is one of the longer Shunpiker routes in recent years.

Most of the stops on it are about 30 minutes apart. This time spent in the car should bring back memories of Sunday afternoon drives in the country! Shunpikers will have a chance to view the beauty of the area, such as the blooming trees and fields, the flowing rivers and the many birds overhead. Don't forget to grab your camera and binoculars before you leave the house!

If this is your first Shunpiker tour, or it's been a while since you've taken one, here are a few pointers:

  • All turns and specific parking areas are described in the route information that follows. Yellow signs with black arrows have been placed along the route to mark turns.

  • Symbols used include: parking, area information, tour directions, wheelchair accessible, camera shutter indicates areas or attractions with photo opportunities, fork/knife indicates places you'll be visiting where food will be sold.

Most countryside roads now carry a proper name as well as a number. The roads in today's route are described by either a name, a number, or both.

You will not have to pay any admittance fees today. However, some of the stops rely on donations to operate. Please help by making a contribution, or help by recommending today's attractions to others.

The hours each of today's major stops will be open are listed either in the route information or in a separate article on the stop itself.
