History of Sifton Properties
Special to Sun Media   March 29, 2008

Harry Sifton built his first house in 1923 on Rosedale Avenue in London, the beginning of a business dedicated to serving a community need for housing.

Oakridge Homes

495 Richmond St.

Under the leadership of Harry, followed by his son Mowbray and grandsons Glen and Richard, the company has grown from this humble beginning to be one of Southwestern Ontario's premier builders of quality homes. Over the years the company has expanded operations to include other forms of shelter - residential rentals, commercial leasing, land development and seniors living.

Building communities including Oakridge Acres, Oakridge Park, Berkshire and Westmount, Sifton introduced London to rental townhouses, condominiums, and even solar home technology. This innovation continues with One London Place, London's tallest building, the development of London's first gated golf course community, and two new Senior's Residences in London. Sifton's 1200 employees can now be found in London, Brantford, Guelph, Kitchener and Mississauga.

A long history of protecting environmentally sensitive land started in 1962 when Mowbray Sifton donated the Sifton Bog, and continues today as Sifton works with the City to preserve Kains Woods. RiverBend Golf Course is a certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary and has shown a strong commitment to its environmental program. Sifton has also donated acres of parkland in each of its communities to enhance the quality of life for all Londoners.

The company strives to provide superior products and services to new homeowners, residential and commercial tenants, seniors, and fellow builders.
